Birmingham United have landed a new home as a deal was struck for them to move to the home of Redditch United.
Redditch’s new tenants currently ply their trade in the Midland Football League Division Two, Step 7 of the non-league pyramid.
Birmingham United Chairman Rajab Noor said; “We are delighted to secure this fantastic facility. We’re very excited to be playing on 4G next season and to grow our relationship with David Faulkner and Redditch United. As a club and committee, we want to say a big thank you to Redditch United for allowing us to ground share for the 23/24 season. Both myself and Siraj are excited for the new season and I’m sure our fans will be impressed with the facility. Considering it’s only been nine months since we completely took over the club, it’s a big step in the right direction for Birmingham United and shows the ambitions we have for the club.”
Redditch United Chairman David Faulkner said; “We are very pleased to have Birmingham United join us here in Redditch. We have not had a ground share at the club since Feckenham folded their team a couple of years back. It’s been a shame that our fantastic facilities have not been utilised every other Saturday afternoon when our Men’s 1st team are away. Over the past 12 months, we have been able to again invest in the stadium adding a new PA system and installing energy efficient LED floodlights for the pitch. The more people we can have utilising our amazing ground the better. I’m absolutely sure non-league football in Redditch will continue to thrive and we will continue to invest heavily in Redditch United to ensure the future of our club whilst benefiting the local community.”
