Redditch United’s Community Involvement Continues to Expand

During the 2022/23 academic year our community department has continued to grow which has enabled us to deliver at both The Valley Stadium and at a range of local schools.

Sessions for both football and multi-sports have been delivered across the town and nearby areas including Birchensale Middle School, Batchley, Parkside Middle School, Bromsgrove, Rigby Hall School, Bromsgrove and Pitcheroak School.

As well as delivering to boys and girls of all ages and abilities, including SEND specific sessions, we have also supported a total of eight secondary and high school career events working with Year 7-11 students on how to pursue a career in sport. As part of this, we have been promoting our own Full-Time Scholarship programme to aspiring players and student athletes for when they leave secondary education and the ways in which this can boost their options upon leaving school.

Feedback for our school & community sessions has been very positive including:

Emma Shelton – PE Lead @ Rigby Hall High School:

“Since working in partnership with Redditch United our pupils have come on leaps and bounds. Pupils have been given fantastic opportunities from being mascots for Redditch United’s first team to attending a World Cup event ran by their academy players. Pupils have developed their skills as well as growing in confidence and found their role models to look up to. Thank you, Redditch United.

Steven Cartland – Head of PE @ Birchensale Middle School:

“Our pupils have really enjoyed having the opportunity to participate in good quality football sessions at a fantastic facility – leading to several of our pupils pursuing joining junior teams offered at the club. It has been lovely to see the development of the young coaches working with pupils from a variety of age groups from within our school.”

Our Academy Manager, Josh Wright, commented; “I am proud to lead the team of coaches we have working with these schools. Their enthusiasm and dedication to providing these young people with a memorable experience while also developing their technical, physical, and social capabilities has been one of the most pleasing aspects of my role over the past year”.
